Kitchen waste bins for convenient waste sorting
A properly selected kitchen waste bin helps maintain cleanliness, makes waste sorting easier and uses cabinet or drawer space efficiently. As the bin is used many times a day, capacity is not the only important factor: it should also open quickly and conveniently.
The Furnitanas range includes pull-out waste bins for cabinets, sorting systems for drawers, individual inner bins, free-standing waste bins and various accessories. You can choose systems with one or several bins, full-extension runners, soft-closing function, mechanical push-to-open or automatic opening.
The most convenient waste bin is one that can be opened and used in a single movement. When preparing food, your hands are often busy or dirty, so we recommend prioritising bins that pull out together with the front panel or sorting bins placed inside a drawer. Once the front is opened, all containers are immediately accessible – there is no need to open the cabinet first and then pull the bin out separately.
Recommended waste-bin systems by need

This is a convenient, fast and attractive solution for everyday kitchen use. All waste binsBrowse the full range and choose a system according to cabinet width, capacity, number of bins, system height, depth, colour and opening method.How to choose the ideal waste bin for your kitchen
A kitchen waste bin should not be selected by price or total litre capacity alone. The system must suit the particular cabinet, your sorting habits and the way you use your kitchen every day.
1. Cabinet or drawer widthFirst determine the width of the furniture cabinet. Waste-bin systems are usually designed for a specific cabinet or drawer width.
2. System height and depthCheck not only cabinet width but also internal depth and available height. Under the sink, space may be restricted by the trap, water filter, pipes or other technical components.
3. Total capacityA compact system is generally sufficient for a smaller household. A larger family or less frequent waste disposal may require more total capacity, although an oversized organic-waste bin may encourage waste to be stored for too long.
4. Number of binsA two-bin system is suitable for separating mixed waste from organic or recyclable waste. For separate plastic, paper, glass and organic waste sorting, a system with three or more bins is more convenient.
5. One-movement openingThe most convenient systems move out together with the furniture front or are installed inside a drawer. A mechanical push-to-open mechanism adds even more convenience by opening the front with a light press.
6. Full extension and soft closingFull-extension runners provide convenient access to all bins, including those at the back of the system. A soft-closing mechanism ensures quieter, gentler and more controlled closing.
7. Installation methodPull-out systems are installed in a cabinet of a specific width and are usually connected to the front panel. Drawer bins require a suitably sized drawer, but their arrangement can be changed more flexibly.
8. Extra storage and accessoriesA metal lid-shelf, additional small containers, bin lids and space for cleaning products help make better use of all available cabinet or drawer space.
Why choose a pull-out waste bin?
With a conventional system, you first open the cabinet door and then pull out the bin by hand or lift its lid. A pull-out system combines these actions: when the front panel is pulled, the containers move out together and are immediately ready for use.
This is especially convenient during food preparation, when vegetable scraps, packaging or other waste need to be swept quickly from the worktop. The fewer additional movements required, the easier it is to keep the work area clean.
Main advantages of pull-out waste bins:
- waste can be disposed of in one smooth movement;
- there is no need to open the door and pull out the system separately;
- all sorting bins become accessible at the same time;
- full-extension models provide easy access to the rear of the system;
- the waste bin remains hidden inside the furniture;
- the kitchen looks neater and more attractive;
- it is easier to keep the area around the sink and worktop clean.
Waste bins and sorting containers for drawers
Waste bins placed inside drawers are one of the most flexible options. Opening the drawer gives access to all bins in one movement, while their sizes can be combined according to the actual amount of each waste type.
For example, larger bins can be assigned to mixed or recyclable waste, while a smaller container that is emptied more often can be used for organic waste. The remaining drawer space can also hold bin liners, cleaning products or other kitchen items.
This solution is especially suitable when:
- a full-extension drawer is already planned in the kitchen;
- you want to create your own combination of differently sized bins;
- three or more waste-sorting sections are required;
- you want to be able to change the arrangement more easily in the future;
- all containers should be accessible by opening one drawer.
New: NIN5271 with mechanical push-to-open and soft closing
The NIN5271 sorting system is a new solution for a 600 mm cabinet, designed for users who want to open the waste system without touching a handle.
The mechanical push-to-open mechanism is activated by pressing the furniture front. The bin can therefore be opened conveniently with a knee, hip or light hand touch even when your hands are busy or dirty.
It is a practical alternative to electronic opening systems. NIN5271 provides the push-to-open convenience associated with handleless furniture without requiring an electric motor, power supply or integration with smart systems.
Main advantages of NIN5271:
- mechanical opening by pressing the front;
- no need to touch a handle with dirty hands;
- no electrical connection required;
- lower price than electronic opening systems;
- runners with soft-closing function;
- three sorting bins with capacities of 25, 11.5 and 11.5 litres;
- designed for a 600 mm cabinet;
- suitable for minimalist handleless furniture.

How many sorting bins should you choose?
One bin
A one-bin system is suitable for a smaller kitchen, holiday home, office or situations where most waste is sorted elsewhere. It takes up less space but does not make it easy to separate several waste streams.
Two bins
A two-bin system is a practical minimum for sorting. One bin can be used for mixed or organic waste and the other for plastic, paper and other recyclable packaging.
Three or more bins
A larger number of bins makes it possible to separate mixed, organic, plastic, paper and glass waste. This system is best suited to a larger family and a kitchen where a wider drawer or a 600–900 mm cabinet can be allocated to waste sorting.
